Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the questions families ask most.
-
Fenton Launchpad Academy is a non-classroom-based learning option offered by Fenton Charter Public Schools. It provides families with flexibility and choice through a personalized, independent study model supported by credentialed teachers. Students can learn at their own pace, explore their interests, and engage in meaningful, real-world learning experiences.
-
Fenton Launchpad is more than just an online program—it’s a flexible, full-service public school. We offer both online and hybrid options, and families have real access to their child’s teacher, including opportunities to meet in person or connect face to face.
Unlike many online services that are for-profit or act as intermediaries, Fenton Launchpad directly provides instruction and support. There’s no middleman. Our credentialed teachers work closely with your child, and we partner with families to support strong academic progress and meaningful learning
-
Not at all. At Launchpad, flexibility is built around your child and your family’s needs. Students can participate fully online or choose a hybrid schedule that includes time on campus. Some families prefer the structure and social connection of in-person days, while others thrive with a more independent, at-home approach. We’ll work with you to find the balance that helps your child succeed.
-
Getting started is simple. All you need is a reliable broadband internet connection so your child can fully participate in live instruction and access their learning materials without interruption. We don’t recommend using a mobile hotspot, as slower speeds can make virtual sessions with teachers less consistent. Fenton Launchpad will provide your child with a device—either an iPad or a laptop, depending on their age—so they’re set up for success from day one.
-
Great question. Hybrid and flex learning essentially mean the same thing. Your child’s learning experience includes a mix of in-person, live online and independent instruction and practice, designed to provide support, structure and flexibility. This approach allows students to benefit from time on campus for connection and support, while also learning from home on days that work best for your family.
-
No, there isn’t a set minimum. The schedule is designed around what works best for your child and your family. Some students benefit from more time on campus, while others thrive with a more flexible, at-home approach. Our teachers work closely with each student and stay in regular communication with families. If a student isn’t thriving, we’ll partner with you to make thoughtful adjustments and recommendations. This is truly a collaborative approach, with your child’s success at the center of every decision.
-
No. Fenton Launchpad is a tuition-free public school, and there are no fees to enroll or participate. There are no hidden costs, processing fees, or required payments from families. As part of Fenton Charter Public Schools, we are proud to provide a high-quality educational option at no cost to you.
-
Yes, absolutely. We understand that family needs can change, and our program is designed to be flexible. You can transition between hybrid and fully online at any time. We do recommend connecting with your child’s teacher before making the change so we can ensure a smooth transition and set your child up for continued success.
